Harlem’s Poetic Rebellion: a salon for the people

Join us for an intimate evening of art and conversation celebrating our traditions of dissent and Queer Black Aesthetics!

Following sold-out shows in 2010 and 2011, the producers of “Queer Rebels of the Harlem Renaissance” make their East Bay debut with "Harlem's Poetic Rebellion: A Salon for the People." The evening features original poetry, theater, burlesque, movement, and music by Queer African American artists:

Wellness Wednesdays - Drop-in hours at CUAV
Every Wednesday. CUAV office, 427 South Van Ness Ave, San Francisco, CA. 4:00-8:00 pm.

Drop in every Wednesday at CUAV, where LGBTQ survivors of violence come together for community, support, and fun. We eat a home-cooked vegetarian meal, play games, and heal through art, and if you need, you can also get one-on-one support for any violence you've been dealing with. Let's heal and grow together!

CUAV's wildly successful wildly successful revue of local LGBTQ talent is back this year! Community United Against Violence (CUAV) and the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts invite you to an evening of queer and trans artistic offerings in honor of survival and resistance.


MAPP - Mission Arts and Performance Project, Reflexiones
April 7, 2012. La Casa de los Sentidos, 2649 Folsom St, San Francisco, CA. 8:00 pm.

MAPP is a Mission neighborhood arts festival featuring music, theater, performance art and more, in alternative spaces such as street corners and private gardens, where folks can cross cultural divides to come together. Come out in San Francisco's Mission District for healing, community, transformation, and powerful art. This event is called Reflexiones - "Que nos invita a mirar al interior?"

Clattering Loom: A Seasonal Reading - Autumn: Depaysement

This reading is taking place on Maisha's birthday! Clattering Loom is a quarterly reading series that focuses on one untranslatable phrase or word from a language other than English that expresses something for which there is no singular definition in our language. Introducing: Matrices at LitCrawl Phase I

It's time for Litquake! Join Maisha and Rajshree Chauhan during Phase 1 of LitCrawl (that's right, a literary pub crawl) as we launch Matrices Press, a new project and publication. Featuring a dynamic line-up of readers, as well as an invitation to submit for our anthology, to be published in 2012.

That's What She Said SF

Maisha will be pairing up with Elaine Gavin to create a comedy duo that will bring brains, beauty, and possibly nip slips to this night of female hilarity. That’s What She Said is a variety show full of awesome women. This show features musicians, improvisers, poets, comedians and more! The evening promises to be a genre bending, free-for-all, fun loving, good time showcasing great work by great performers for the delight of our audience. Co-hosted by the hilarious Caitlin Gill and Wonder Dave. Featuring performances by Morgan! Blythe Baldwin! Mona Webb! Elaine Gavin! Tatyana Brown! and More!
